Use of the Barrett Taxonomy Reorganization Method to Improve Students' Reading Comprehension Ability in Class IX State Junior High School 1 Tapalang

Abstract

This research is quantitative and has three implementations, namely: Pre- test, Treatment and Post-test. Pre-test to find out the student's initial ability and post-test to find out the student's final ability after treatment. The purpose of this study is to determine the improvement of students' skills in writing personal letter texts using the group investigation method. The population in this study is all students of class X of SMK Negeri 1 Tapalang and the sample is phase E of SMK Negeri 1 Tapalang. The data collected consisted of pre-test and post test results. The results of the study show that students' personal letter writing skills using the group investigation method have improved. Based on data, in the pre-test students got a low score of 59.65 because they did not know the rules for writing personal letter texts. After the implementation of the pre-test, the researcher conducted a treatment which was carried out three times. The researcher explained the application of the group investigation method. And the results of the post- test have increased, namely 74.35. So it can be concluded that the application of the group investigation method to improve students' ability to write personal letter texts at SMK Negeri 1 Tapalang is successful.
